​Horizon has settled all insurance coverage disputes with Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s of London arising from Horizon’s defense of litigation brought against Horizon by Linglong Americas and affiliates. Under the settlement, Underwriters will pay over 90% of the amounts demanded by Horizon for its defense costs.

WMC was featured in ‘El Nuevo Dia’ today for their victory in the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals for Hurricane Maria policyholders.

The Court of Appeals has determined that Hurricane Maria policyholders can demand immediate payment for any damages that an insurer has admitted from initial adjustment, even though they still have other disputed claims.

WMC won a landmark victory for Hurricane Maria policyholders by securing a unanimous decision by a 5-judge panel on Puerto Rico’s Court of Appeals.

The panel held that when an insurer provides an adjustment of damages to a policyholder, the amount stated in the adjustment is a liquid debt that must be paid immediately. The panel further held that the policyholder also is free to seek additional damages from the insurer.
