Juan Saavedra Castro, Esq. Juan H. Saavedra-Castro is the Managing Partner of WMC’s San Juan office, where he oversees the firm’s commercial property damage recovery program in Puerto Rico. Along with his team, Juan represents policyholders who suffered catastrophic, multi-million-dollar hurricane damages. His clients have included corporations, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, municipalities, condominium associations, and other property owners and operators. Juan also leads the firm's Puerto Rico environmental litigation team, representing municipalities, non-governmental organizations, and individuals seeking redress for damages arising from “forever chemicals” contamination. Throughout his decades of law practice, Juan has represented clients in complex, commercial litigation involving many kinds of disputes, including national and international copyright infringement, medical malpractice, employment discrimination, and recovery of ill-gotten gains. Fluent in the Spanish language, Juan can handle litigation matters that involve the review of Spanish language documents and can advise clients located in the United States and throughout Latin America. Juan is a graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School. He served as a law clerk to Chief Judge José Trías Monge, Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. He previously practiced at a large international law firm in New York and is a member of the New York and Puerto Rico bars. Juan sits on the Board of Directors of Fundación Segarra Boerman e Hijos, the largest Puerto Rico foundation concentrated on supporting education opportunities for indigent students throughout the island. He is the co-author of Leadership in Puerto Rico: Nationalism and the United States, published by the United Nations University Leadership Academy. Juan also enjoys playing chess and listening to jazz. |
